“Amor for Alex Nieto” was the biggest movement of gente ever in the United States dedicated to gaining justice for a fallen Latino brother, Alex Nieto, who was unjustly executed by the SFPD. The San Francisco and Bay Area community made international history. With our new memorial, funded completely by you, the people, we continue to make history.
We fought the great fight and did not lose. We argued their laws better than them, fought more creatively than the city with its billions of dollars, and uplifted the community more than any politicians ever could. We do not measure our worth by their “justice.” We held our honor, and now it is time to construct a monument for posterity. I have said it many times before, but I say it again: This memorial will feed our souls, no matter the difficulties of the times. This memorial will be an authentic educational tool; thousands of students will write educational essays about the Alex Nieto case.
Join us Thursday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the City College Mission campus for The Alex Nieto Memorial Fund Dinner, and let’s continue to create for our beloved community.
